To Stand Strongly in a fast growing Industrial Sector & to make available the technically skilled hands to serve the Industry & Society, the Government has decided to provide an opportunities to the students to take the Technical Education. And as a result of this Government Established the Techncial Institutes to make available technically qualified personnel. With the aim to keep the control over the Technical Institutions & to ensure the quality of Technical Education the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, Mumbai was established in 1948 headed by the Director.
Day to Day the demand for technically skilled hands increased due to the fast growing industrial sector. To meet this demand the Government has liberalise its policy & granted permission to the private Technical Institutions in 1983. As a result of this policy the no. of private institutes increased up to great extent, ultimately it becomes difficult to keep control over these institutes to the Director of Techncial Education. And hence the DTE has decided to de-centralised its power at respective regional level. So the Government established the six Regional Offices at Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad & Amravati in the Year 1989 headed by the Joint Director of the region.
